BACKGROUNDER: BENNIE POLLARD

Pollard Enterprises, Inc. founder and owner Bennie Pollard brings two decades of professional hair design to his BennieFactor Products line.

Beginning his career in the early 1980’s, Pollard honed his skills under various Masters in Fort Lauderdale and Miami, Florida.

In 1992, Pollard opened his award-winning, full-service salon, hair by Bennie…and friends!, in the fashionable boutique district of Louisville’s historic Frankfort Avenue.

hair by Bennie…and friends! enjoyed an amazing level of success from the start. Pollard expanded the salon three times over the course of two years. In 1994, hair by Bennie…
and friends! was recognized as one of the most architecturally innovative salons in the United States, receiving a Special Distinction Award in Modern Salon magazine’s Salon of the Year competition.

In its June and November 1996 issues, Glamour magazine identified hair by Bennie…and friends! and Pollard as one of the best salons and hair designers in the United States. In November 1999, New Woman magazine called it one of the 20 hottest salons in the country.

In 1995, twice in 1997, in 2000, and in 2003 Pollard was selected as a finalist in the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA), the industry’s most prestigious competition, equivalent to the film industry’s Oscar. 2003 proved to be Pollard’s year, as he won The North American Hair Styling Award’s Avant Garde category.

In the spring of 2001, Pollard’s own product line, BennieFactor Products, was introduced. BennieFactor Products has won numerous awards, and was honored with an ABBIES nomination for Best Product Package Design in 2003.
